New York, Nov. 19.
As a sequel to the large scale sup-Dort of sterling this week, further shipments of gold on official account from Great Britain are expected to be made soon. which will still further swell the gold holdings of the United States.
Foreign exchange circles estimate that the British Equalization Fund lost approximately U.S.$1.000,000,000 orth of gold recent which represents two-thirds of its total holdings as officially reported on March 31 However, with seasonal pressure ending, sterling will now be subject only to a flight of capital, due to the political unrest.
Thus, impartial observers are of the opinion that the British Control authorities are now almost in an impregnable position and could lose far more gold than the United States would receive—at least U.S.$1,000,- 000,000 worth.—Reuter.
