U.S. Slips Away Ship Boarded at Night

New York, Nov. 24.

Dr. Hans Dieckhoff, German Ambassador to the United States, secretly boarded the German liner Hansa late last night, beginning his journey home under orders of the Reich Foreign Office in order to report on the anti-German sentiment expressed by Government officials in the United States.

Dr. Dieckhoff, to keep his departure secret, boarded the liner on the cargo gangplank. His efforts were attributed to a desire to leave the United States without precipitating any anti-Nazi demonstrations such as have occurred at the German Consulate—United Press.
