APANESE troops, advancing Hongkong, Nov. 24. south from Sheklung, on the Canton-Kowloon railway, 37 miles east of Canton, are approaching near Hongkong's borders.

Refugees and wounded soldiers, arriving at the border village of Shumchun this morning, report that fighting is progressing at Lungkong, which is only twenty miles away.

At the same time, Chinese newspapers here report that 2,000

Japanese troops were landed last night at Taipinghsin, near Namtau, in the Pearl River delta, and are now pushing along the railway towards Shumchun.

Observers believe that the combine ed action by these troops and the Japanese column operating from Sheklung is designed to clear the railway area of Chinese remnants.

Meanwhile, a Jepanese plane flew over Shumchun at 8.30 this morning and dropped thousands of leaflets bearing the "Rising Sun" flag, calling on the inhabitants not to oppose the Japanese and promising protection to whoever pasted the "Rising Sun" leaflets on their doorways.

'A strong breeze blew numbers of the leaflets across the border into British territory,—Reuter.
