Mr. Han arrived in Peking two days previously on an official mission. He is a trusted Lieutenant of Prince Teh, "leading spirit in. the Mongolian autonomy. movement last year. In addition to being chief of ihe civil affairs section of the Coun ci, Mr. Han holds the concurrent ost of, director of the Mongolian Peace Preservation Corps.
Immediately after the news of Mtr. Han's disappearance became known, the authorities instituted a search but to" far "no clue has been found— movement has been set on foot to have the farmers make a special effort this winter to have canals cleaned and deepened, to have ponds enlarged and deepened, and to engage famine sufferers to plant their wood-lots for them on the mountains., But this embargo has handicapped them all.
Our mayor, who has studied economies and sees how the embargo tends hinder him in his attempts to get the sion on to its feet, has protested to the Governor against the embargo. One piece of good news that has come in is to the effect that the rains of the past fortnight, even although coming very late, have increased the crop of the section of this hsien that now instead of being only between ten and fifteen per cent. of an average crop the expectation now is increased by ten per cent. which will bring it up to Somewhere around 25 per cent.
