Practical Side

As far as the practical side of the repeal of the exclusion clause is concerned, observers here @eclare that the admission of 185 a year on the quota basis, would be a great benefit only in enabling a reunion of families split up result of the passage fof the law. It is pointed out that of the 185 that would be admitted, more than half would probably go {o the Hawaiian Islands where there isa Japanese population of over 120000 as compared with 140,000 for ale, it is sold, it would take quite a few years' to Feunite split families. There are Taian about 6,080 children who can not go to America to join one oF both of their parents, and there are considerable number of parents. in Japan unable to join children in. the United States. Not all would take the opportunity, of course, but a very definite hardship, it is declared, imposed on those families who do not wish to remain broken. Outside this emotional appeal, there is no very great practical value in having the immigration act revised.
