Sm—Why should it be taken for granted that any depreciation of China currency must be effected a lowering of the silver content of Standard Dollar?

Depreciation could follow as the! result of Government action prohibit ing. the Importation, exportation or tireulation of silver and declaring hotes of the Government Bank to be! the equivalent of Standard Silver Dollars and the only legal tender.

Who, then, would declare to the contrary, and where would be protection of the "Silver Clauses"?
