"To the Editor of the Normt-Cuxa Dany News"
—I can heartily endorse "Apis" letter in to-day's "North-China Daily News." I am, however, not optimistic enough to presume that even if his letter attracts the attention of the Police, the Chinese Police Oficers will be instructed to keep first of all_an eye on the numerous joy-riding cyclists who are really a nuisance in the city.
Twill take this opportunity to. mention the cyclists who practice very often from 6 pin. until after midnight on both sides of the Soochow Creek, along and "opposite the Embankment Building.
'They ride up and down the street just for fun, constantly ringing their bells. Most' of these bells are attached to the fore-wheel of the bicycle. They can be put into opera~ tion by merely pulling a string and 80 provide a noise which is very much appreciated by these cyclists since it, does not take much effort to produce it. These bells are rung constantly even if there is nobody fon the street but the cyclist Serious accidents have repeatedly happened due to these _joy-riders, but I have never noticed a policeman interfering. with thege pests. I am not referring to the Bostmen or Chinese trades people who know how to ride a bicycle without making unnecessary use of the bell.
'AN Oto Sunscarser.
