Mr. Chamberlain's Move

Suddenly, the British Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, appealed to Signor Benito Mussolini, who in turn communicated personally with Reichsfuehrer Adolf Hitler. It was then that the historic Munich meeting took place. instead of the Italo-German conference previously, planned, Count Ciano concluded.

It was denied in Rome this evening that there were-any demonstrations held today when people shouted "We want Corsica and Tunis."

The denial was made in contradiction to reports appearing abroad and claiming that groups ran through the streets of Rome shouting this slogan.

There was only one demonstration here today, it-is pointed out, and this was only on a small scale. It involved Italian youths who shouted. "Tunis!" several times after having heard Count Ciano's speech broadcast from the Chamber of Deputies—Havas.
