Tokyo, Dec. 5.
Amicable settlement of an incident involving the death of a Chinese inmate of an American hospital at Sutien on December 5 during an aerial attack on the walled town located on the Grand Canal in northern Kiangsu province was reported. here today.
American authorities who had protested against the attack were reported to have admitted that the Japanese action was justified when it was proved that the Japanese army planes were forced to fire on the building when Chinese troops on the hospital premises started shooting. The Japanese, however, ceased firing upon recognizing the American flag flying over the hospital.
This is the fifth of the series of Japanese-American disputes in North China to be settled amicably, it was said.—Domei.
