Platinum Coins Offered

As "Safe Deposit"

New York Broker Suggests New Form of Investment New, York, Dec. 11.

An advertisement in a Wall Street financial paper offers to investors, units of US$1,000, platinum discs "ráadily convertible to cash in this or any other country."

Mr. G. Gilbert, a platinum broker who inserted the advertisement described the discs as "a little chubbier than a 50-cent. (US) piece. For one thing, platinum never wears out, and it is a very beautiful element."

The discs weigh an ounce piece and are worth about U.S.$33 each.

Asked why the discs are limited to amounts at US.$1.000 in value, he replied, "We don't like to sell less than U.S$1,000 worth."

"Platinum is easily resaleable. it doesn't deteriorate and it is an ideal safe deposit security," he said.

"And there are only: five world sources; Canada, Soviet Russia. South Africa, Colombia and Alaska. If there is a disturbance in any of these countries the market, price will be affected."—United Press.
