Shanghai is day by day certainly approaching more nearly to the conditions of "home" life. The newly introduce furniture manufacture of Messi Sayle & Ca., which is but the foreshadowing of other local manufactures to come, Now we have to call attention to another matter, widely different it is true, but eminently practical and useful, specially in this sport-loving community. We allude to the growth last season, by Mr. A. Ferguson, of the farm, of about 70 tons of superior English hay, of which a sample has been kindly forwarded us, which it was a pleasure to see a delighted quadrupee enjoy. Being intended for consumption on "The n" the farmer simply invites inspection of Mis well-ended stack before too large a hole is made in it by the herd. Judging from t sample spoken of, we should certainly recommend an increased growth, if possible, in the next and future seasons, for the value of the fragrant production is undoubted.
