Local Side Take Lead in Second Half But Last Ten Minutes Result in Defeat YTLY as a result of a bad last ten minutes, when nothing seemed to go right, the Shanghai Rugby Union Football Club on Saturday lost to Meiji University at the Canidrome by 19 points (two goals and three tries) to eleven (one goal, one penalty goal, and one try). On the run of the game the score was a little flattering to the Japanese visitors, since the goal which gave them the lead came as a result of a piece of Shanghai bad luck, and the next goal that put them eight points up was a result of a piece of wild play which might easily have been avoided.

Tt was @ match that kept the huge crowd on its toes from the very start, Melfi set off well, scoring a try within two minutes of' Shanghai's Kicking off, and followed this up with another try that put them six points ahead before half the frst half had been played, Shanghai rallied Mfereafter, chiefly owing to good work by their forwards, and by half-time the score was level. The forwards bore the brunt of" the attack, but they were not, however, directly responsible for the scores. The first came as a wonderful climax to a brilliant run through by Taylor, Shanghai's full-back, who scored well out. The forwards had taken the ball down to the Meiji area in order to make this possible. Then Shanghhai's equalizer came as a result of a penalty given against the Japanese in goof position in their own twenty~ five. The forwards were again. the agents who had taken the ball down to this position.

[terized their game against the US. probably Oka on the right wing, whose dazzling running several \imes had Shanghai guessing. Ohoka played brilliant game at stand-off half and Proved, on the day, to be Meiji's most dangerous attacker.
