Public Relations Committee To Handle Affairs Economic Measures to Be Discussed in Spring A meeting of the committees of the three organizations which are looking after European refugees, viz the committee for the Assistance of European Jewish Refugees in Shanghai, the Hilsfond fuer Duetsche Juden and the International Committee for granting relief to European Refugees was held on Thursday.
In view of the magnitude of the problems confronting these organizations, it was decided to nominate a "Public Relations Committee" which will handle all questions connected with the refugees. This committee is composed of: Mr. M. Speelman, Chairman, Mr. D. E. J. Abraham, Mr. Elis Hayim and Mr. J. Hollzer.
All matters relating to the housing of, entering and caring for the refugees will continue to be handled by two offices, one under the direction of Mr. Paul Komor, the other under the direction of Dr. Kurt Marx. These will also be in charge of the distribution of funds to the refugees.
Mr. Speelman is taking full charge of the financial side, such as the collection of funds, etc, and monthly subscribers to the various funds, and intending contributors are requested to send their cheques or donations direct to Mr. Speelman at No. 7 Avenue Edward VII.
A second Japanese-Chinese-Manchoukuoan economic conference will be held in Shanghai, now regarded as the economic hub of the new china, either in March or April of next year, according to a report from Chinese sources.
Encouraged by the success of the first conference in Tokyo, Osaka and Changchun recently, officials of the Ministry of Industry of the "Reformed Government," the Shanghai Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and leaders of Japanese commerce and industry already have started to exchange views concerning the second meeting.
A preparatory committee will be appointed to make the necessary arrangements.
