Dr. Katharine Blodgett, scientist of the American Electric Company's Research Laboratories, announced today that she had discovered a process whereby she could make glass almost totally invisible.
Her process provides for the immersion of the glass in a solution the nature of which she. did mot reveal which then spreads over the surface of the glass in a very fine layer. Sheets of glass thus treated then permitted 99 per cent. of light rays to pass through as compared to the £2 per cent. that can pose through the most pure glass manufactured to date.
International, Belgian Minister of State since 1914, died at 3 o'clock this morning.
M. Vandervelde who, at different times, held six portfolios in various Cabinets, was Minister of Civil and Military Supplies during the World War. While holding the post of Foreign Minister, he signed the Locarno Treaty on behalf of his country in 1925. His last Government post was that of Minister of Public Health to which he was appointed in 1936.—Havas. at
