From every point of view, and especially from that of health, St. Giles fills a real need for parents who wish to send their children to a Boarding School in China. And in these days of the depreciated dollar when it is extremely difficult for so many parents to send their children home to England, the advantages of St. Giles are not being overlooked. Now that it is being realized how peaceful conditions are in Tsingtao more boarders are being enrolled for the coming term. Fees compare very favourably with those of many local schools and the boarders at St. Giles have in addition the advantage of an extremely healthy climate.
In this connection a summer school is held every year for two months for boarders and day pupils, which enables parents who cannot get to Tsingtao to send their children to spend delightful holidays urder suitable supervision in one the healthiest ports in the East. Games play a prominent part in the life of the school and many hockey r'atches are played against sides from H. M. ships, while each day starts with drill for the whole school Riding is especially popular and is both cheap and good, the country round Tsingtao with its wooded hills being unexcelled.
