Strong Signals

DAVENTRY BROADCASTS

To the Editor of the "Nortw-Cumva Darty News"

Sm—"Suicus" need have no fears of looking cheap. 1 corroborate everything he states in fis letter to you about the present excellence of the Daventry broadcasts over GSB. [Never before have I had such strong and clear signals. For over a week, GSB on 315 metres has beet received by me from about 10.30 pin. to 145 am. at exceptionally great strength.

'The Calcutta Cup match, St. Patrick "Day programmes, ' eyewitnesses' accounts of the F. A. Cup Jsemi-finals and many other broadcasts have been coming over with clarity jon a par to that of the local stations. Last night Henry Hall's band and every word of his announcements were heard all over the house, Big Ben could be heard out in the street.

Transmission 4, commencing at 2 am, Shanghai time, is also very well 7 have not experienced any. in= terference on GSE, as I have been satisfied with GSB and have not roamed around the dial, as I would if reception was poor from that station. To me it appears that "Sixrcus" has been picking up an "harmonic" of some local station. I get these "harmonies" frequently over the short waves and can usually trace the station on the local band.

Nevertheless, anyone who cares to stay up late (end who does not in Shanghai?) can listen in comfort to some ideal programmes from Homeside.
