MANKIND'S LACK OF CONTROL

London, Sept. 6.

Thomas Edison's inventions have added to the world's wealth by. ££3,000,000,000, according to Sir James Teans, in a" brilliant presidential address before the British Assoc tion at Aberdeen to-day.

Sir James admitted the need of 2 new morality and a new religion, since mankind was learning to control nature more quickly than it could control itself.

Tt was wrong, however, he said, to malign science for this' condition, or to blame science for unemplo} ment.

For, he explained, while science produced labour-saving inventions it also yielded discoveries leading new trades, and new popular demands for the employment of of labour.

it James concluded by saying that the question was to maintain a per-feet balance, and to confer on un versal employment a continual increase of the comfort and dignity of life—Reuter.
