SHANGHAI HOCKEY ASSN

ANNUAL MEETING:

The annual general meeting of the Shanghai Hockey Association took place on Monday with an attendance from representatives of the various Jelubs participating in the local league. The outstanding item of the Jevening was the news that the local association had been affiliated with the English Hockey Association and was thus recognised as a representative body in Shanghai, whereas they had worked unofelally in previous years. This affiliation was. concluded lby the president, W. G. Clarke, who had gone to great trouble to secure it and a special vote of thanks was passed for him in this connection, Now that the local association is jatliated with the Home body, it was Inecessary to organise properly and a set of rules was issued at yesterday's meeting for submission to' the vari jous clubs. Hitherto the Shanghai Hockey "Association had—worked without any rules and things were Jdone in an unofficial manner, but inow that the body had an oficial standing, a set of rules would neces: sarily have to be brought into force Jand these will be adopted after they thave been confirmed as satisfactory jby the various clubs. A copy of the rules had been sent to the Home body who had passed them, Although W. G. Clarke declared that he had been acting as presi-Jdent of the Association for" too ling a period and thought time someone else should fill the office, hig objection was overruled by the meeting and he was re-plected fas president by a unanimous vote R. J. Whitehead and A. J. Bars were elected vice-presidents and A. H. May and H. Melchers to fil the positions of honorary secretary and honorary treasurer respectively. It, Bubank, J. 8. Kenyon, K. M. Pate and H. Wetzell were elected to the general committee.
