BLACKSHIRTS TO THE FORE: THEIR MAJESTIES AT MARIE TEMPEST'S JUBILEE MATINEE

By Ouve Dux London, May 29.

It is so tong since one hears anything about Sir Oswald Mosley and his Fascists, that one bad almost forgotten their existence. But it seems they are very much alive, andaas there are quite a number of girls in their ranks—not long ago particularly good-looking girl Fascist used to parade daily outside Parliament with all the alr of a real Child of the She-Wolt—what I heard of them to-day may be of interest.

member of Parliament whom 1 know was invited a few nights azo by a lady who owns a big house in town to hear Sir Oswald Mosley speak. When my friend arrived, the door was opened by a large Biackshir, who gave him the Fascist salute; another Blackshiry took his coat and hat: a third announced.

'Where were the regular servants? As my friend said, it is hardly usual to Invite a guest and take on his retainers to do the servants' work.

"Then Sir Oswald Mosley came, attended by a personal guard of Blackshirts. All" the other Black-shirts present formed a ring about the room and the Chief Fascist walked round exactly as if he were Royalty. My friend gave me a vivid sketch of that ambulation—the slight inclination of the head, the low 'Of encouragement,' the gra ly proffered hand, the dark and littering eye.

'A. speech followed in which the National Government was compared to a captain who, when the ship is in a storm, lashes the helm and retires to the cabin. "But the captain's place is on the bridge," exclaimed the Chief Fascist, and drew a pleture of himself in that position, with trusty Fascists lo carry out his! orders for the salvation of the ship, and its worn-out crew, otherwise Parliament. comfortably superseded.

My friend mildly asked what would happen if the crew got the idea that the captain was steering He was informed briefly that "such a contingency could not possibly arise." But an. elderly "Fascist, evidently an ex-sergeant major, with more frankness whispered to him: "They can wrap it up but what it means really is government by force."

It seems we are to have this quite aeon, At the next general election Socialists will get in; they will make an unholy mess of everything fand then the Fascists will step in, ut Sir Oswald Mosley on the bridge and give us the millennium.

But as my friend the M.P. said, How" little they stem to know of history and of the British peoplet Youngs are expecting their daughter back from college early next month.
