Home rails provided the brightest feature on the Stock Exchange today lon, maintenance of the Southern dividend of 5 per cent. on the preferred and ordinary shares, and other rail issues also sympathetically improved. British gilt-edged securities benefited from investment support, while, in other sections, foreign bonds hardened. Among industrials, motors shaped better on the Austin Motor plan to build commercial vehicles. West Africans ruled active in the gold-mining section, while Kaffirs held firm.—Reuter.
