British naval chiefs conferred with Mr, Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister, at No. 10 Downing Street this morning.
They included Lord Stanhope, First Lord of the Admiralty; Lord Chatfield, Minister for the Coordination of Defence, and Sir Roger Backhouse, First Sea Lord.
His Majesty the King today received Viscount Gort, Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Buckingham Palace. He is under stood to have discussed Viscount Gort's recent tour of Palestine and the Near East, in which he inspected British defences in those parts of the world.
His Majesty: also received Teufik, Pasha Elhouda, Chief Minister of Trans-Jordan.—Reuter,
