FOR THE POOR Cheap Food Wanted

Shanghai, Dee. 15

To the Editor of the "Nonrit-Cuana Dany News"

Sm—As one returns to a comfortable and heated home, to await the summons to a well-cooked bot dinner, it comes a8 a very unpleasant thought that there must be several who. have difficulty in getting nourishing food at a price they can Jaford to pay.

Charity takes care of some of these, Jout not all: there are many who will not accept charity until utterly des~ fitutes but who have so tile that the cost of a meal is a very serious tem in their budget.

For such, is there a respectable leating-place where meals are served cost? If such a place were or~ ganized, where men and women could igo, would it convict with some charitable work now being done, or would i All a real need of a section lof the community If the latter, why cannot such a place be organized, lurider professional direction Good nourishing food, cooked in quantities, can be supplied very Jeheaply; far more cheaply than is realized by the average house keeper: without the profit, motive, Jand without the trimmings, but with ldeceney and no loss of self-respect 10 is patrons, there appears to be no impossibility in arranging for one or [more of such restaurants.
