The annual meeting of the Repah Rubber & Tapioca Estates Lid. was held yesterday at 49 Szechuen Road, Mr. A. J. Welch, chairman, presided, supported by Messrs R. N. Swann and L. Kadoorie, directors, and Mr. W. A. Welch representing Messrs. J. A. Wattie & Ca., Ltd., Secretaries and General Manager. Shares present and represented totalled 740,050. The chairman in his speech said The accounts now before you show, I am sorry to say, a much smaller profit than was the case last year, the profit for the period being Ch.sii2.80726 as compared with Ch.$157,045.—last_ year.
The main factors that contributed towards this result were firstly that the net proceeds received from the sales of rubber were 6.03 pence per pound as compared with 846 pence per pound last year and secondly the output of Rubber was 192300 lbs. smaller; the estate expenditure on revenue account was on the other head very nearly a half penny per pound higher.
