The Territorial Army has passed well beyond the establishment laid down for it up to March 31, and has entered already on the task of decreasing the shortage caused by increased numbers that will appear in the next estimates. It is a wonderful change having a force 210,000 strong when two years it was less than 160,000, The constant threat of danger started the inflow and the crises last September rounded it off. The Divisions which are at full strength are those of London, West Lancashire, Highland, South Midland, Northumbrian, East Lancashire, West Riding and Ist A. A. Division. Apart from men the organization is changing and the T. A. is coming out in the following Order of Battle Mobile Force: The Mobile Division of a tank brigade, a mechanized cavalry brigade of light tanks, two regiments of R.H.A. and a mechanized brigade of motor and M.G. infantry. 7,000 strong.
West Lancashire, London and Northumbrian Motor Divisions, each of six rifle battalions in two brigades, two field regiments of artillery, three machine gin battalions and a motor cycle battalion,' 17,000 strong.
Field Divisions: Nine Divisions, each of three brigades (9 battalions) a tank battalion and machine gun battalions in support. and the usual artillery 76,000 strong.
Anti-Aircraft Corps: Five Divisions with 22 groups and more to come 89,000 strong.
Coast Defence Branch: The heavy brigades and fortress engineers, 14,- 000 strong.
The spare infantry are being used as follows:—Tank Regiments:—7th King's, 10th Manchester, 7th East Surrey, 6th Northumberland, 5th Gloucester, 7th West Yorkshire.
Anti-Tank Regiments:—9th A S. H. 4th King's Own, 5th East Surrey, 4th Duke of Wellington's. 6th Hampshire, 5th R. W. F.
R. A. Searchlight Regiments:—5 and 8th Cameronians, 5th South Lancashire, 4th Loyals, 4th Queen's, 5th Northmberland, 10th Royal Fusiliers. 4th Gloucester, 9th Middlesex, Ist Monmouth and Queen's Edinburgh.
