Dr, Koo's View Nanking, Aug. 30.
Dr. Wellington Koo, Chinese ter to France, expressed no optimism on the future of Sino-Japanese relations, when interviewed by press representatives here to-day. Dr. Koo said he is not at all certain what lies in the future in the diplomatic re-Iations between the two countries. While many important factors call for 4 policy of goodwill and ce-operation between China and Japan in their mutual dealings, such a policy arently primarily must be built upon basis of equality and reciprocity. China, for her part, since the Mfukden Outbréak in 1931, has done everything in her power fo maintain friendly relations and to avoid open conflict, with Japan, and, indeed, in so doing, she has compromised herself to a most rious extent, In such circumstances, continued Dr. Koo, it is to be hoped that Japan will look farther ahead than her immediate Interests and adopt a policy mutually beneficial in the Jong run herself and her neighbouring country. China has unlimited economic pos sibilities, and, left to herself to develop her resources, she would prove Such a boon to Japanese trade and enterprise as is not" even suspected by Japan—Central News,
