Efforts are "being made by the Tientsin-Pukow and Shanghai-Nanking railway administrations to speed up the Shanghai-Peiping through. express service. Upon instructions from the Ministry of Railways, a rial run of a train with a high: powered locomotive recently was held and was reported to be successful. After preparations, it is learned, schedules will be worked out to run the Shanghai-Peiping through express in less time than is now necessary. At present, it takes the through express forty hours to cover the dis tance between Shanghai and Peiping.
