18 Cornering Gold 14 Washington, Apr. 4.
Mr. Percy H. Johnston, prominent New York banker, told the special Senate Silver Committee today that eventually the United States may come into possession of all the gold in the world.
"Just like in a poker game," he said, "we will have won all the money. The other fellow won't have any more money so the game will be over."
He vigorously opposed the Administration's silver purchase programme and said the Government had spent more than $1,000,000,000 to purchase silver, Senator William King, Democrat of Utah and a silver-bloc supporter, interrupted the testimony by angrily grabbing his hat and leaving the committee room. "Im not interested in that sort of stuff," he said.—United Press.
