Tour of North China Making his frst visit to Shanghai in the course of an inspection of the various British regiments in North China. Major-General A.W. Bartholomew, the new General OMicer Commanding. the British Troops in Shina, arrived here on Sunday morn-Ing from Hongkong in the s. Chitral-He was accompanied by Mrs. Bartholomew, Major G. K, Dib. his aide-de-camp, Capt. J.D. Milne, and Lieut. P, J- Howarth, of his staff, The party were met by Brigadier F.'S." Thackeray, accompanied by officers of the Lancashire Fusiliers.
Later in the day, Gen. Bartholomew visited. the regiment and had Yuncheon with the officers. He expects to be here until May 9, whicn he Wnill leave for Tientsin. arriving there on May 12, and from that city he will go on to Peiping, Shanhaikuan. and Tangku, His tour of inspection will ast a little more than a month. and expects to return to Hongkong on Tune 8.
