Utilities lagged behind the main list, much of an early advance to the best levels since last November being nullified by softness in the latter part of the week which followed a Securities and Exchange Commission decision to invoke the death sentence clause of the Utility Act against the Utilities Power and Light Ca. in the process of reorganization, Although the chairman of the Commission, Mr. William O, Douglas, said he had no present plans for moving against other utilities Ẹcompanies, the group was friendless in the closing sessions of the week.—United Press.
