An exhibition of paintings by Mr N. L. Koschevsky, member of the Fall Fine Art Salons of Paris and Amster- offic dam, was opened yesterday in the died of we rooms of the Art Collectors Society, were 55, Yuen-Ming-Yuen Road (3rd floor). Prior to g here the artist for several years nineteen regional offices and 1,400 local committees are practically complete.

The plans are based on the Government's proposal to become the sole purchaser of all imports and home supplies in the event of war. The prices of all food except luxuries would be controlled.

Wholesalers would purchase supplies from the Government and would operate strictly in accordance with the Food Minister's orders. Retail traders would be registered and licensed by the local committees, purchasing from wholesalers at prescribed prices regular weekly supplies to meet th customers' demands.

Immediately on the outbreak of war, five staple commodities would be rationed, namely, butchers' meat, butter and margarine, bacon and ham, lard, dripping and other cooking fats and sugar.

A register of carrier pigeons for being compiled by A Pigeons would be carried in R.A.F. machines and used to convey messages if the aeroplanes' Wireless apparatus were put out of in Northern China canvasses we recognize he familiar ights and types of Peiping. Pei elc. Although the pain ngs on exhibition are almost evenly divided between the landscapes and portraits, the latter show that the human types are more in the line of artist's talent —his studies of the Chinese girls are delightful as also are the other Chi nese types, young and old.

The artist's manner is simple and sympathetic and with the years come will probably acquire further maturity.

In his landscapes showing the famous landmarks of Peiping such as Summer Palace, the Came Bridge etc. the colouring is soft, perhaps too soft, although the scenes are chosen very attractively The exhibition is open from 10 to 12 in the morning and from 3 to 6 in the afternoon and will clos mi Saturday night
