There was another hearing in the first Special Disiiet Court on Thurs-0 afternoon of the civil action ought by Messrs, S.A. Hardoon Ca. against their tenants, the Hung Tuck "Li Time Company, Nanking Road, for over $5,000, representing the total rent which the defendants have refused to poy for July, Aveust, September, October, November this year. The defena~ ants asked for a 40 per cent. reduc. tion in the rent on the ground of business depression and that other landlords had granted reductions to their tenants. The landlords declar~ ed that according to the lease contract with the defendants, no increase or reduction in the rent could be enforced by one party without the other arly's consent. As the contract had not yet expired, the landlords said they could not see there was any sound reason for the defendant's re-reserved til afternoon.
