A campaign to stamp out illiteracy in Nanking has been opened by Mr. Ma Chao-chun, Mayor of Nanking. During the frst stage of the cam-ain, the following are required to attend the special schools to. be opened by the Soclat Affairs Burent: workers of the Public Works Bureau, road cleaning coolles, work ers of the Hung Yih and Nee Ha Tile Factory, wharf coalies, barbers, bath-house employees, rickshaw pulers, and taxi chauffeurs, The special schools, will teach the iliterate to learn those characters most commonly used.
