Miss Thompson's View

Miss Dorothy Thompson, prominent American newspaper columnist and former foreign correspondent, yesterday urged the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to repeal existing neutrality laws so that the United States may have maximum freedom for military, legislative and diplomatic action in foreign affairs.

She said disregard for world affairs by the United States would be "an open invitation to aggression. I do not think the existing neutrality is neutral."

Mr. Ralph Emerson, legislative representative of the Congress of Industrial Organizations, said American seamen "strongly favour an embargo against trade with Japan because it is sickening to go through west coast picket lines of little Chinese children who plead with us not to load scrap iron for Japan."—United Press.
