There has been a great deal of road reconstruction work in Eastern Honan so far this year. The most important piece of work along this line ig the straightening and the surfacing ofthe road to Pochow, Anhwei, This is a very important motor road and con-acts the northern part of Anhwei with the Lung-hat Railway. Huadreds of tons. of crushed stone were placed on this road, so that there is, how a metalled surface all the way fo Pochow. The metalled strip is not very wide and only about two inches it is nevertheless It is not generally known that It is possible to travel by motor ear from Pengpu in Anhwei to Kweiteh. From Kweiteh one can travel across to Chengchow on built-up motor roads, while from Pengpu to Pochow one has to eross several ferries. From Pochow to Kweiteh, bridges span all the small rivers. A motor car may be driven all over Eastern Honan and {in the neighbouring parts of Anhwei, Kiangsu and Shantung.
