Although no insistence was made fon the point, the theory which seemed the most plausible on July 13 was that which saw a relationship between: the murder and an attempted murderous attack on another Japanese in the very neighbourhood at the same time of the evening on July 6 last. A Japanese barber named Kurimoto reported that night that some-one tried to shoot him outside the Peace Apartments, a house occupied by Japanese near the corner of Dixwell and Chi Mel Roads, but missed fire. Reports. of this incident were made to both the Settlement Police at Dixwell Road Station and the Japanese Con-Jsular Police, but the alleged culprit was not found.
