Reply to Mrs. Fitch

To the Editor of the "Norri-Cuixa Dany News"

'Sm—The reasons for my use of a pseudonym in this matter may be simply stated. Mrs. Groncr A, Frrcit who is so insistent on saddling the charitable public of Shanghai with yet another burden in the form of this whims called "Traveller's Ald' ig a leading and influential member of the local hierarchy of uplifters whose ramifications are widespread and powerful.

Her sponsorship and advocacy of this proposal are perhaps the.main, it.not the sole, reasons for rendering it worthy of a'moments consideration by. thoughtful people in the very /grave financial and economic situa tion now facing the community.

Tt might well seem savouring of presumption, therefore, if a person no social consequence or influence whatever, in attempting to traverse the advocacy of such a well-known and respected proponent, were to sign a name whose meaning would add nothing to the eMcacy of any reasons he might advance for withholding support for this idea.

One trusts that Mrs. Frrcw will be reconciled to the slings and arrows of _pseudonymous but courteous) comment, in contemplating the possibility that whereas her successful imposition of /Rer notions will bring her all the merit and reclama with which the world rewards the labours of disjcoverers of "Good Causes" and the Inventor—of new "Indispensable Needs" yet, at the best, the industry fof Smmpce Snox must remain unhonoured and unsung!

Let us now devote attention to the matter in question, One notices that for some reason' the name. and philanthropic work of a Chinese Indy, Mrs, Herman Lieu, is made much use of by Mrs, Fircit in her campaign for the importation of a Professional "executive end orgonizer" from America for this Traveller's Ald business.
