To the Editor of the "Nowru-Cuma Dany New:
Sir,—I heartily endorse the sentiments expressed by PLAIN AND SHORT in his letter appearing in your columns today. These "stench-carts" parade along Rue Lafayette every morning between 8.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. turning what should be a pleasant residential road into an objectionble district to be avoided by all who can. The arrangement is certainly a disgrace to the F.M.C. Health Department, I have visited Chinese cities in the heart of the count several weeks' journey from Shanghai e the magistrate allowed no stench-buckets or wheelbarrows on the city streets after 6 a.m. and strictly enforced the order, and I am speaking of fifteen years ago, before the New Life Move-Tent came into being. Surely if a provincial Chinese magistrate can display such enlightenment and en-orgy in the interest of-the citizen's health and comfort, the F.M.C can produce a member of their staff who Car organize something in their own Concession
