Anz & Ca. First to Ship Groundnuts to Europe Chefoo, July 15.
Messrs. 0, H. Anz & Ca, a German firm established here in 1688, celebrated Its golden jubilee to-day. The business was founded by Otto Anz, the present proprietors, M. A.W. Buse and C. W. Schmidt, becoming Dartners in i011, Messrs, Anz & Ca. were the frst firm to make direct shipments of groundnuts to Europe, beginning the export of this commodity in November, 1923, when the 3, Adolf von Bayer sailed with a full cargo, 'A reception was held at the com-any's office at noon to-day, and was attended by a large gathering of Chinese and foreign business men. The guests were welcomed by" Herr Schmidt, who paid tribute to the cooperation extended by Chinese firms during the past fifty years. Congratulations were extended to the. firm by Mr. Tsul Bao-san, speaking! on behalf of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and by Mr. D. F. R. Me-Mullan, chairman" of the foreign Chamber of Commerce, who wished continued prosperity to the firm—Reuter.
