Glasgow, June 29.
It there are people in the country to-day who have been labouring under the impression that Scotland cannot produce heat, then they will have realized how wrong they have been in their deductions after this weekend in Glasgow. It has been bhat, hotter than we have known It, certainly for this year and quite as hot as. It was at the hottest period of last year, when we consider we hada record spell of exceptionally hot, weather.
The East Coast did not have the heat that we had; indeed people coming across from Edinburgh, after spending the week-end there, complained of the cold, just what we had been doing until ihis last week, when it suddenly turned, not warm, but genuinely hot.
Tt is a rare sight for us in Glasgow fo see the summer costumes that are being worn by the fair sex in these days, and even the men are beginning' to adopt the open shirt front and' short sleeves. Tt might almost be a seaside resort to judge from the mode of dress these last few days since we experienced the heat wave.
