Two Policemen Shot in Daring Attempt Peiping, Sept. 17.
Two policemen were shot here today by two Chinese gunmen trying io enter the residence of Mr. Wang Chih-ching, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of North China.
The gunmen were nabbed on the spot. The policemen halted the two Chinese as the latter tried to go through a gate leading to Mr. Wang's house. The Chinese drew pistols from their gowns and shot one of the policemen in the neck and the other in the stomach.
Authorities were investigating the shooting to determine whether it has any connection with the observance of the seventh anniversary of the start of the Manchurian incident. It was not known whether the two Chinese planned to attack the banker.—Domei.
