Paris, May 21.
In an international football match today, France beat Wales by 2-1 after leading 2-0 at half-time. The match throughout was played at a fast pače, both defences being generally sound.
France scored after 10 minutes through the inside-right, Bigot, and increased her lead: when the centre-Koranyi scored in the 12th Astley, Welsh inside-right, scored with a header shortly after the resumption, beating the French goalkeeper in a race for the ball.
No further scoring occurred, and France won the match by two goals to one—Reuter.
The Davis Cup Committee in London was thereupon consulted and although it ruled in favour of Poland, it also advocated an amicable settlement of the dispute.
At this stage, the Polish Sports Federation sportingly decided to withdraw its team's legal demand for a walkover, and agreed to the requested postponement of the doubles match, thus permitting Henkel to play in place of Menzel.—Havas.
