In April owing to the reduction in the quota, it was decided with a view to economy, to discontinue tapping on Canning and Gunong Rabat Estates and produce our entire exportable quote from Kota Bahroe, thus reducing the cost of upkeep of these two estates to a minimum monthly expenditure sufficient to Cover care and maintenance only.
This year there has been no dimculty in obtaining. all the labour required and the workmanship of the "tappers continues to be well up to standard.
The estate manager, Mr. Dawson, who had been on home leave, returned in September and resumed management. During his absence, Mr. R. G. Bower, managed the estate in a very satisfactory manner, and to both these gentlemen I would like to express our thanks for the manner in which they have supervised the work of the estate, also to Mr. Pinching and our agents in Penang for all their assistance,
