It is understood that Sir Frederick Maze is among the passengers expected to arrive in Shanghai by the Empress of Canada. Sir Frederick, it will be recalled, left for England in April as Counsellor to Dr. H. H. Kung, China's Special Envoy to the "Coronation of Their Majesties. During his stay in England Sir Frederick has been engaged in many official activities and it was reported that on one occasion he was induced by the British Broadcasting Corporation to give a "television" table on China, Somehow or other exact information regarding that interesting event has not found its way to Shanghai. If it actually took place it will be instructive to hear from Sir Frederick something of his experiences. He arrives to find Shanghai extremely preoccupied, but he is too experienced a hand to be discomfitted thereby. It will be distressing to him to note that just when the Customs Returns were betokening a welcome buoyancy in trade conditions a shattering blow has been delivered against the fabric of which the service under his leadership is so important an upholder.
