Society to be held this afternoon at 5:30 o'clock in the Society's auditorium at 20 Museum Road, when Dr. Harley Farnsworth Macnair will deliver a lecture on "Some Vicissitudes of a Mid-Victorian Consul" will be the last of the present season.
This terminates an extremely interesting series of lectures presented before the Society and the general public in Shanghai during the past nine months, averaging one every fortnight since October of last year. The subjects covered in these lectures have shown a wide range, including, as they have done, Chinese art, archaeology, ethnology, folklore, native medicines and natural history, with several travelogues in foreign lands. All have been well illustrated with lantern slides, some wih coloured motion pictures. The meetings have been well attended. On December 29 the Society held its first Annual Soiree, when well over 300 guests were present, a delightful tea was served by some of the lady members of the Society and a number of interesting art and scientific exhibits were placed on view.
