A call for a united national en-
Geavour on a scale never before attempted in peace time, in which party and class differences should be sunk, was made by Mr, Anthony Eden, the former Foreign Secretary, speaking at Cardiff yesterday.
Mr. Eden declared that he believed that response from the nation to an appeal for service would be overwhelming and immediate, Though war had been averted, he went on to say, this was no time to lapse back into an easy-going and comfortable life.
Far-teaching social and economic changes might be required, Mr. Eden warned.
The agreement, and active support, of all classes must be forthcoming if the national defences were to be placed on a secure basis.
