A friendly cricket match on the SCC. ground yesterday afternoon resulted in a draw, neither side being all out at the close of play at 5.30 pin. R. F. Scott's team, going in first, were able to put together 188 for nine wickets before the innings was declared. Tingle and Read scored 50 and 36 respectively before they retired to allow every member of the side a bat. G. M. Mills' XI were short of 20 runs when stumps were drawn, despite excellent scores by Duckitt and Hutchison.
Tingle and Fairbairn put on a good first wicket stand before the latter was clean bowled by Hutchison. Tingle went on to complete his half-century before he retired, and disregarding the fact that he was dropped in mid-field when he had scored Only nine runs, he must be complimented on a good innings. It was essentially a batsman's wicket and Duckitt was the only bowler who found the hard nature suited his type of attack. Heap and Read added useful scores before the innings finally closed with 188 on the board. Dropped catches assisted the batsmen materially while little effort was re quired io hit boundaries along the hard turf.
G. M. Mills' XI did not fare so well in the start, losing Sayle's wicket in Chadwick's second over. A second wicket stand by Brazel and Hutchison however changed the complex of the game. Hutchison in particular was seen to good advantage on the off, is driving past cover and cutting being outstanding. Duckitt batted well and at one time appeared likely to pull the match off. Hutchison however was clean bowled by Sinclair, failing to reece his fifty by six runs, and Mills made a great attempt to hit off the necessary runs, but all efforts were of no avail and the match ended as a draw,
