Republic Prisoners in Spain Being Tried Hendaye, June 14.
Special courts and courts martial at Madrid and the vicinity sentence Republican prisoners to death every nine minutes. border reports said today Ten special courts are working continuously on cases of persons which Generalissimo Francisco ' Franco's agents arrest from a card index containing 1,000,000 names, the reports added.
The courts are judging approximately 400 persons daily. Appeals against death sentences are not permitted and it was also reported that the Madrid prisons and concentration camps contain 1,600 Republican officers and 34,000 former Government functionaries. Arrests continue ai the rate of about 200 daily, the reports said—United Press.
Mouth Bleeding John Sharples, spinning supervisor at the mill, stated that at about 8 a.m, on June 6 he was having breakfast in the dining room when there was a commotion on the pontoon Later he looked through a window on the South side and saw a band of coolies going in the direction of the power house. There were also two Japanese marines, who were "walking leisurely behind in the same direction."
