Lansing, Kansas, June 13

Annoyed because the warden refused them the right to wear silk underwear and to have bed-time snacks in cells, 250 convicts in the Kansas penin tientiary coal mine here today refused to carry on with their work, Twenty-two of the prisoners later repented and came to the surface, when the warden demanded their surrender, The others continued to go on strike until guards, armed with machine-guns and tear-gas bombs, descended into the mine and quelled the mutiny.—Reuter.
