By James Parks

3,000 Runs, 100 Wickets in One Season London, Sept. 4.

Playing in his last first-class match of the year, Jim Parks, the Sussex all-rounder, made fresh cricket history to-day by being the first player to complete 3,000 runs and 100 wickets in a season.

The previous best performance was given 61 years ago by W. G. Grace, who reached 2,622 runs and took 129 wickets in 1875.

Parks, whose brilliant form was one of the reasons for Sussex's high position this year, seized his opportunity while playing for the Over 40's against the Under 30's at Folkestone, He required 60 to gain the coveted record and, after keeping the crowd in suspense, he reached this figure, but the applause had hardly died down when he was out with 61 to his credit.
