Tokyo, Oct. 26. poner has the strongest army and the strongest navy in the world, and should go to any lengths, including war, to secure a pledge from Great Britain that she will give up her policy of assisting China's National Government, and recognize Japan's position as the stabilizing influence in East Asia, and promise not to take in the future, without Japan's understanding, any political or economic action savouring of politics in China.
This is the dominant note of a five-column notice inserted in a Japanese newspaper by the Shiunso, am ultra-nationalistic organization which from time to time publishes large advertisements in the Japanese press in an attempt to influence the Government and the general public.
The latest advertisement, which runs into several thousand words, says that Powers which have helped China's National Government have to face abandonment of their vested rights and interests in China; that Great Britain's army, navy and air force are strong enough to scare small Powers, but fall.short of scaring a big Power possessing serious determination; and that today, when the submarine and aeroplane have made rapid progress, Great Britain cannot defend her rights and interests in the Orient, the South Seas end Australia without a friendly understanding with Japan.
